I am Amanda Koch, the Democratic candidate running for Will County Board. I am running for a seat in District 2, which covers Frankfort, Green Gardens, and Manhattan.
I have devoted my life to public service. I served in the US Army for nearly twelve years, including two combat tours. I was medically discharged in 2014. I continued my public service as a teacher in a Title 1 district. I am currently taking a break from teaching after the birth of my daughter. However, my desire to serve is as strong as ever, and running for office means I can impact my community more directly.
My husband, Dan Koch, has spent 16 years in the military and is still serving, having gone on four combat tours. He is also a proud working member of the Local 597 Pipefitters. We both believe in truth, fairness, and service. My family is a strong team with a shared goal, and more importantly, we know what it means to sacrifice for the good of others.
I know politics is a battle, but I am battle tested. I am ready to fight for my community. I am a hard worker, and, through much research, I understand what is required to run a strong campaign. 2018 will be a pivotal race for Democrats, and if we work hard we can swing the political pendulum back our way.
I look forward to being the first female in 28 years to be elected to this district seat!
